Greg is an expert in the application of economics to high stakes decision-making in competition, finance and regulatory matters.
In the antitrust sphere, Greg is regularly sought to advise on the competitive effects of proposed merger transactions, and to provide expert testimony in antitrust enforcement proceedings. Greg’s evidence has been cited favourably in numerous proceedings before the Federal Court, the Competition Tribunal and in the decisions of arbitrators. For many years now, Greg has been listed as one of the world’s leading competition economists in the Who’s Who of Competition Lawyers and Economists.
Greg has played a leading role in shaping the development of regulatory regimes governing communications, energy, transport and water services infrastructure in Australia and the region. Greg’s clients in this area include governments, regulators, infrastructure services providers and trade associations.
Greg is also the foremost expert in the region on the application of economics to critical questions arising in securities class actions, insider trading and market manipulation, with his evidence being accepted in one of the few wrongful disclosure matters to be tried to final judgment in the Federal Court.
The substantial part of Greg’s career has been spent with NERA Economic Consulting, where he served on NERA’s global board of directors as well as its management committee and, for fifteen years, led that firm’s Australian operations.
Greg is currently establishing a new economics consulting firm, the focus of which will be on delivering first class analysis and service to clients in the Asia Pacific region.
